LogJaw is a woman-owned and family-operated company built on generations of hands-on experience, hard work, and a deep respect for American craftsmanship. What began as a simple, homemade tool used by family members in Michigan’s forests has grown into a patented product designed to help people work smarter, safer, and more efficiently with wood.
The story of LogJaw started decades ago with Dan McDonald, a Kalkaska, Michigan native who used a metal tool his family had relied on for years to haul heavy pulpwood out of the forest. Unlike other tools, it gripped logs by the cut end, giving him better control and reducing strain. Years later, Beth McDonald witnessed him using this tool and immediately saw its potential to help countless others who work with logs and firewood every day.
Inspired by that family innovation, Beth founded McRansom LLC to bring LogJaw to market while preserving its original purpose and spirit. The tool was thoughtfully redesigned with a cleaner, stronger, more refined look—without losing the functionality that made the original so effective. Today, LogJaw remains true to its roots as a practical, no-nonsense tool created by people who understand real work.
Manufacturing runs deep in the family. Beth grew up around metal fabrication, learning from her father, Rich Ransom, who owned a machine products company in South Haven, Michigan. That background shaped a commitment to quality and durability—and to keeping production close to home.
LogJaw is proudly Made in the USA, with manufacturing based entirely in West Michigan. We intentionally chose to work with local mold makers, foundries, and finishing companies, even when overseas production could have reduced costs. Supporting American manufacturing, local jobs, and skilled trades is central to who we are and how we operate.
As a family business, we take pride in every LogJaw that leaves our hands. Our goal is not mass production at the expense of quality, but steady growth built on integrity, craftsmanship, and trust. We believe tools should be built to last, businesses should support their communities, and innovation can come from kitchen tables and family workshops just as much as from large corporations.
LogJaw is more than a tool—it’s a family legacy, a commitment to American-made quality, and a reminder that the best ideas often come from generations of experience and a willingness to build something better.
